SCORPIO FULL MOON

Conclusion or breakthrough. Deepening bonds or severing ties.

In partnership with

Hello my loves,

This full moon is a beautiful demonstration of vulnerability and raw expression. It invites us to boldly reveal ourselves in totality, meaning that we may be asked to reveal truths that we have tried to keep concealed or willingly stand in uncomfortable spaces so that we can honor our authenticity. I have found myself being subject to emotional exchanges and intimate conversations through this moon that have required me to keep digging deeper into my heart’s truth, and at times it has felt oh-so uncomfortable. To reveal one’s truth to another can be such an extravagant risk—it may feel like you are leaping into the unknown without any idea whether you will fly or fall. Many of us may be examining a multitude of different intimidating feelings through this lunation—whether you’re encountering pain, grief, love, desire, hope, or something else, they may all feel quite big, and we are perhaps realizing how we have hidden away their magnitude in some capacity so that we can remain in a place of control.

However, in the essence of Scorpio and its governance over the inevitable, karma, cycles, and the raw truth—the truth that has been stripped of its frills and adornments to make it more palatable and seem less harsh than it is—we are likely finding ourselves being confronted by some iteration of the Grim Reaper, and he forces us to see what we have been averting our gaze from. This does not automatically mean that this moon is "bad.” In fact, some of the things that we are confronting may be uncomfortable simply because they are rooted in deeply vulnerable desire. I myself am addressing desires that I have tried to push away for many months, and the realization of their truth has felt just as uncomfortable as enduring a more painful hardship. Despite my efforts to push them away, Death has demanded I stop running—so I suppose I am “killing” my avoidance.

This moon may feel thematically tied to the full moons we had in August (the Aquarius full moon, August 19th), November (the Taurus full moon, November 15th), and February (the Leo full moon, February 12th), as they all have shared interactions with Uranus, and this moon is the final part, perhaps delivering some type of realization for some of us. This is something I dissect more specifically in the planetary analysis of this moon, which you can access through the moon offering (or the Moon Circle) below. Whatever your experience is under this moon, it asks us to stop resisting the changes that are unfolding around us and points out that once we surrender to the currents we find ourselves wrapped up in, we may actually feel a sense of peace and confidence that we have struggled to find in months past. We’re moving into a much different energetic landscape quite soon—this summer is going to be one that will feel extremely pivotal and historically relevant in many of our lives. Through this moon, do not be afraid to eliminate anything that is consuming more of your resources than contributing to them. Any parasites must be killed. We may find ourselves simplifying our lives and consolidating our energy for only the essential functions, but this is in support of all that the summer will hold. <3

HERE’S THE BIG PICTURE

This full moon completes a powerful cycle that has been active since August 2024, which was initiated by the Aquarius full moon on August 19th. That full moon was the first in a four-part series of fixed full moons interacting with Uranus, the planet of change, unexpected events, electricity, and evolution, all of which have worked to dislodge us from any symbols of security that we cling to and claim to be secure. We have likely recognized through the removal of these symbols just how unstable we feel when we don’t have something to tether ourselves to and have been pushed to seek out what it means to be secure without external matters to depend upon, we have had to find it within.

In Scorpio, the moon faces hostility; it is conscious of its delicate nature from an early age and takes the precautions to ensure that its softness is protected, as the moon in Scorpio would rather err on the side of caution than open itself to a potential attack. Through the past three fixed full moons (the fixed signs being Aquarius, Taurus, Leo, and Scorpio) we have dismantled different themes around authenticity, alignment, and security to better understand them and have likely been given tangible encounters to see just how nuanced being “good” or being “bad” can get. Through this full moon in Scorpio, we are being made aware of the sacrifices and tough calls that sometimes need to be made in order to, one, conserve and protect our energy, but two, honor the journey that we feel authentically called to pursue.

We are examining what it means to be vulnerable, to know that we are susceptible to damage, and exposing ourselves anyway through this moon, as it is inviting us to look at that total reality of our lives so that we can identify what layers need to be shed and investments need to be eliminated in order to honor our inner truth with more devotion. We’re also being asked to recognize how we have perhaps perpetuated our own pain by avoiding accountability, whether that could be demonstrated by stepping away from or toward something—you may find that there are examples of both in your life. There are two primary matters that this moon is asking us to observe in our lives to assess how well we are honoring our inner truth:

  1. The first is centered around pain and suffering. We are being invited to examine how we have perpetuated our own pain by continuing to submit to it, whether we have done so by wallowing in an emotion or remaining in a situation that we no longer feel aligned with. This moon is asking us to acknowledge how we have perhaps been a part of the problem in our own lives and asks us to identify if we’ve truly done everything we can to create more peace within ourselves and our lives. If we are able to be super honest with ourselves while considering this, we may just realize that the solution to our discomfort is sitting right in front of us, and we have just not wanted to act on it because it feels uncomfortable.

It’s important that we ask ourselves whether the pain of changing really is more uncomfortable than the pain of staying the same. Through this full moon, we may be reaching a point where the temporary discomfort is seeming worth it to us, as this may not be the first time we’ve tried to release the matters we’re considering eliminating. This time we may feel more certain and ready to let them go, as we’re likely recognizing that our holding onto them is only going to prolong the inevitable pain of stepping away from them.

Scorpio governs cyclic matters, death and rebirth, and transformation, but our resistance can make these processes more painful than they need to be. What are you resisting? What ending are you trying to prolong? How are you contributing to your own pain? There comes a point when we are continuing to experience pain because we are choosing to perpetuate its sting. This is not to say that we should disregard pain when we feel it, but this moon asks us to identify how we have perhaps continued to submerge ourselves in discomfort because of our unwillingness to heal.

  2. The second matter is pointing to our experiences of intimacy and vulnerability. Scorpio is the sign in which we experience intimacy that far transcends our physical form—it is where we feel our soul beginning to intertwine with another’s. Scorpio naturally governs the eighth house, the house in which we are physically and emotionally naked with others, the house in which we become exposed and cannot conceal any part of ourselves. Perhaps this moon is addressing walls that you have put up around an emotional matter, potentially involving another party, in an attempt to protect yourself from being hurt. We may be encountering some things through this full moon that require us to proverbially “lay all our cards on the table” and to “let it all hang out.”

Perhaps some of us have avoided revealing hidden parts of ourselves or secret truths to others because of a fear of being rejected or misunderstood—this moon points out that you’ll never know how the other party will respond until you let yourself be seen in totality. We may have to bare our souls to others in some capacity during this full moon, which may feel like we are taking a great risk. There may be defining moments in relationships that either make or break their existence. But we cannot understand the true structure of these relationships until we surrender to this inevitable turbulence. You don’t truly know if a building is earthquake-proof until an earthquake strikes. Similarly, we are being asked to face any emotional turbulence or discomfort that might be arising at this time, whether that is within our relationships with our shadow selves or in relationships with others. This may entail some uncomfortable but necessary conversations revealing painful but honest truths. If a relationship becomes destabilized by the truth, do you even want it in your life? If a relationship is secure because you are accommodating someone else’s wounded mentalities and victimhood, is that even a relationship?

The moon feels discomfort in Scorpio and Capricorn because both of these signs diminish her nurturing and gentle qualities, but sometimes, these energies are necessary for us to experience in lunar matters, as our emotional bodies will encounter pain, discomfort, grief, and loss at one point or another. That’s life. It is through these archetypes that we are actually supported to navigate life’s pain in discomfort—through these signs, we are given the tools to alchemize and diffuse emotional experiences that we may not be as capable of doing through the energy of the other astrological archetypes. This full moon is asking us to accept things that aren’t working and to let them go. It’s also asking us to stop running from the inevitable, whether that is an ending, being seen (in all your emotional nakedness and complexity), or a fear that we have continued to ignore, thinking that our ignoring it will make it disappear.

This moon reminds us that we can’t always control the external circumstances that we are put into; we actually can’t control a lot of the things that happen outside of us. But it asks us to recognize that our power doesn’t lie in how good we are at evading discomfort, how well we can hide our shadow qualities, or how talented we are at enduring pain. It lies in how we respond. It lies in how devoted we are able to remain to the person we wish to be, despite what happens to us. This moon also points out that no one is going to give you a gold star for continuing to submit yourself to pain and discomfort in order to prevent someone else from enduring pain (e.g., there’s never a “good” time to break up with someone). When you die, God isn’t going to give you a comfier seat in heaven because you stayed in places you outgrew in the name of making others’ lives easier or making others happy. Tolerating pain is not as heroic as we think it is.

To be said with less finesse and eloquence, this moon is screaming “YOLO!” in our faces. It’s your life. If you’re unhappy in a relationship, leave it. If you are in love with someone but you’re scared of being known, tell them you love them; give them the opportunity to love you. Life will throw plenty of curveballs your way and put you through all sorts of trials, tests, and tribulations; you don’t need to add to that by living half-heartedly or by conditionally honoring your authentic truth. This is a time for us to embrace our raw expression—our messiness—and trust that anything that falls away in the aftermath of our doing so was never meant to stay. In you fully embracing your authentic self—including the good, the bad, the ugly, the beautiful, the perfect, and unfinished—you may be pleasantly surprised by what you attract. You will never be too much for someone who can’t get enough of you. Similarly, life will make space for you if you can have the courage to take it up.

Happy full moon. xx
