SCORPIO NEW MOON
Sitting in the chrysalis. Envisioning a new reality.
2024 NEW MOONS // November 1st through October 3rd, 2024
Greetings friends,
This new moon is the final one under the watchful eye of Pluto in Capricorn, which means that this can be a powerful space for us to set intentions for the future and identify how we have transformed over the span of the last sixteen years. Pluto’s themes are usually more noticeable when observed over an expanse of time and in retrospect, as, while it can symbolize the happening of specific events, it will more likely reflect a theme that is infused into our overall experience of life. While this moon is happening in the polarizing and transformative sign of Scorpio, the larger, perhaps more influential, planetary formation occurring alongside it—a kite pattern—is disclosing a very specific invitation and offers us valuable insight regarding how we can best utilize this energy for our advantage. This is a powerful moon for manifestation due to this kite’s formation, as the kite is the union of a powerful gift and dedicated discipline that intends to maximize the gift’s potential.
I am not quite done with the horoscopes for this installment, as I have been a bit under the weather these past few days. The power of this moon is potent, and I want to be sure I accurately articulate the experience each sign is likely being given. However, I did want to ensure that the Moon Circle members were able to receive the practice I created with this moon in mind and have the information regarding the unique kite formation aligning alongside this new moon. You will perhaps see the horoscopes in your inbox sometime in the next couple of days. But for the time being, I hope you enjoy this discussion on the new moon, and, if you’re interested, you can access the practice I created through the button a little further down. This guided manifestation practice discusses how to establish an embodiment practice and includes a guided visualization!
HERE’S THE BIG PICTURE
The archetype of Scorpio is one that can feel quite heavy for the moon to sit in, which usually means that we are addressing some potentially difficult feelings and are urged to face some uncomfortable truths seemingly against our will. But if we can lean into this intensity rather than trying to escape it, there can be great blessings found on the other side of discomfort—acceptance, a deeper sense of intimacy with ourselves, a stronger connection to our true essence. Both the traditional and modern rulers of Scorpio—Mars and Pluto—are at 29º and are opposing one another, which is an aspect they only form to each other every two years or so. This will be the first of three Mars-Pluto oppositions that will occur over the next six months. The second two—happening on January 3rd, 2025, and April 27th, 2025 (the second of which is simultaneously alongside the new moon in Taurus)—will be activating the Leo-Aquarius axis for the first time through this opposition, which will be illuminating a specific theme for each of us that we will be asked to review and understand on a deeper level over these next six months or so. I will go further into this as we more closely approach them.
This initial opposition in Mars and Pluto’s “three-part series” is deeply symbolic of our departure from the sixteen-year cycle that Pluto in Capricorn has led us through. We may find ourselves growing tired of this proverbial waiting room that Pluto at 29º Capricorn has held us in, but we must not rush the process as we are in a delicate transformative transition. This energy will last over the next couple of weeks, until Pluto ingresses into Aquarius on November 19th. These are the final moments of Pluto in Capricorn we will ever experience. This period is similar to the moments before a butterfly emerges from its chrysalis—it cannot hasten the process of emerging, as the struggle in breaking free is also what allows time for its transformation to be completed. We may be facing frustrations with wishing for help or hoping that someone else can help us make this transition, whether we find ourselves in quite literal life transitions or those that are more metaphorical. With Pluto being a symbol of death and rebirth, just as in literal death or birth, this period we find ourselves points out that, while we can be surrounded by loved ones, they cannot be the ones who are born or die for us—we must go through the portal alone. There is likely something quite empowering about this time as well, though. For those of us who have late degree Cardinal (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) placements or early degree Fixed (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) placements, we especially may be finding this transition to be quite pivotal in our lives. Those of us with such placements may find ourselves preparing for new chapters of life and looking back upon the hard work we’ve done to get to this point, but regardless of specific placements, this theme will likely resonate with the entire collective in some capacity.
This moon is a beautiful space for us to identify what new world we want to envision for ourselves as Pluto moves into Aquarius. It invites us to acknowledge what transformation processes are asking for us to surrender to them so we might shed the skin we’ve developed throughout Pluto in Capricorn, as it will not be cohesive with the energetic environment or evolving structures that Pluto in Aquarius will create. While new moons are periods of new beginnings, because this new moon is in Scorpio, the sign of transformation and elimination, we may find that the new beginning is only allowed by our surrender to something that we must release. And while this surrender and release could apply to something quite physical, this just as possibly could merely be a release of a specific timeline for our transformation. When setting goals, it can be easy to cling to the idea of achieving them in a set timeframe. As we have moved through the final degrees of Pluto in Capricorn, we’ve likely been shown time and time again that holding onto control will not always get us what we want; in fact, it may be the thing that drives what we want from us. We are invited through this moon to embrace the new cycle that is soon beginning with Pluto’s entry into Aquarius and are reminded that movement and stillness both have their time, role, and place in our lives. We must not try to have a strong hand in the unfolding process of what is being revealed to us at this time, as our attempts to accelerate them may contribute to future setbacks.
This moon asks us to answer convicting questions regarding what we want, who we are, and what we may be lying to ourselves about. We are asked what we are still clinging to, even if we are holding onto it to maintain a sense of safety. While Scorpio often can be stereotyped as a sign that is deeply controlling and obsessive, it finds its power not in exerting its power upon other things and people, but rather in accepting what is without attempting to alter its truth to fit the desired narrative. Scorpio finds power in facing the truth that organically exists and finding confidence in each part of the cycle—there is just as much acceptance and understanding of the “low” as there is of the “high.” Because Scorpio also facilitates elimination processes, we may find ourselves being urged to clear away any lingering attachment to the things that are changing around us. Over the past six months or so, we’ve been pushed to LET GO—to bring awareness to the parts of us that try to assert our authority over things that are not ours to manage. Many of us have encountered endings that we were not allowed to decide—they simply happened, perhaps due to nature running its course or because someone else changed intention. We have likely been grappling with the concept of loss through many different experiences. While we have likely been letting go of control, little by little, over these past six months, this new moon invites us to identify where we are still holding and what we may still be seeking shelter in due to its familiarity.
When Scorpio is involved, there is a great sense of vulnerability that is required from us, as we are often exposed against our will by this archetype, either to ourselves or to those we are closest to. We can either choose to be empowered by this and confidently stand by the “true us” that is revealed, or we can cower and hide, feeling ashamed of and running from the rawest parts of ourselves. But through this moon, we may find ourselves more inclined to adopt the perspective of the former, as we realize that things are changing whether we want them to or not, and so we may as well accept the directions we are moving in. This is not the time to fight the current, but it’s also not the time to try to swim faster than it. This is the time for us to allow ourselves to be ushered into a new reality by allowing—allowing what is to be what it is and not attempting to alter it to fit into the story we most want to hear. This is a time to take intuitive action when prompted, but not to feel pressured to act due to an inner sense of urgency or expectation of ourselves. Oftentimes transformation processes accelerate when we stop trying to force them to happen; we may find ourselves suddenly changed, different, and no longer resonating with the shed identity. Give yourself plenty of time for reflection over the next couple of weeks, as the themes of the Mars-Pluto opposition will likely feel resonant until Pluto shifts into Aquarius. Times are changing, and all we have to do is immerse ourselves in the tides as they naturally change.
Lastly, if you are facing some type of loss at this time, we’re reminded that, while it is often difficult to process emotionally, from a higher perspective, loss can be one of the most transformative and revealing experiences. It can illuminate truths within ourselves that would have remained hidden forever had it not happened. There are some experiences that we cannot fully comprehend the wisdom of without experiencing them firsthand, but it is through our personal encounters with them that we can gather insight to be able to help facilitate others’ journey through them. Ask yourself what is falling away to reveal something new. There are likely proverbial wounds that we have been slowly working to heal over the past six months, and it is through this moon that we are reminded that, while we are perhaps reaching the point in the healing process where things become itchy and increasingly uncomfortable, this discomfort is evidence that new skin, pink and delicate, is being formed to take the wound’s place. We cannot rush the healing process, as this may just make the wound take longer to resolve itself. No, instead, we must wait and trust that this tenderness is a sign that we are almost on the other side of this transformative process.
Sending you love. xx
